Karrinyup Residence Example
Go2 Homes was engaged to update a tired and dilapidated 1970’s three-bedroom/one-bathroom home on the perfect street for a family of four (husband, wife and two kids under three). A site-consult and design brief established a plan for their ‘Ultimate Goal’, a four-bedroom, two-bathroom modern home whilst retaining the beachy/retro vibe.
What the family needed first was to renovate their wet-areas, and to extend plus connect their living area to the backyard so they could see the children play. What they need in the future is a fourth bedroom and ensuite. The future placement of the fourth bedroom and ensuite has been mapped out, so us not to interfere with any current building works. It also avoids the temptation to spend unnecessary funds on landscaping in an area where the extension is planned.
Pictures show the renovation process of the bathroom, kitchen and family/living areas. The Fourth bedroom will be added within two years, as the family grows, and once additional funds have been saved.

The result is a light filled, modern home with a refined 1970’s beach vibe. The dark and dated ‘popcorn’ ceiling was replaced with natural white painted gyprock. Two walls of the family area were removed and replaced with walls of windows, topped with hopper windows to allow the air to flow through the home. In-order-to support the new glass walls, structural steel was installed and concealed in a feature bulkhead. The kitchen features a multitude of timeless white laminate drawers. These are hard wearing and ergonomic, and provide ample storage. The large kitchen breakfast-bar overlooks the family area from which the parents can look out at the children in the yard and pool.
‘We are beyond pleased with the first round of renovation and extension that has been completed on our home. It was a dark and closed off house, and terrible for young kids or entertaining.
